WWI topic

In year five this term we have been looking at WWI. Throughout the half term we have looked at the history of WWI as well as linked it through our English work.

Year 5 have immersed themselves with all things WWI. The children have really enjoyed the topic this half term, they have really worked hard and have learnt lots of facts. Please ask them to talk to you about it. In art,  we have looked at Dadaism (Dadaism or Dada was a form of artistic anarchy born out of disgust for the social, political and cultural values of the time. It embraced elements of art, music, poetry, theatre, dance and politics.). The children have enjoyed taking part in the Christmas carol service where we sang Silent Night as part of the WWI Christmas truce.

Finally, the children read the book Private Peaceful written by Michael Morpurgo which they thoroughly enjoyed. Their written outcomes were fantastic so well done Year 5! They then went on to write and perform News reports which were just great! Some of the children adopted accents for their performance which had us all in stitches.
