This term we have been learning about the ancient Maya civilisation. We were lucky enough to have a Maya archaeologist and expert come to Stopsley to teach the children all that she has found in the central American rainforests. The children found out about the Maya number system, their calendar (which is similar to our 365 year calendar too), their impressive temples, their very tasty invention-chocolate!- and their beautiful writing system too. After this the children were able to study real Maya artefacts, which Dr Dianne Davies very kindly allowed the children to hold to see what Maya life would have really been like.
