about the Flag Club
Stopsley Community Primary School is located in the village community of Stopsley on the edge of Luton. The school grounds are opposite to Stopsley Fire Station and Stopsley Park and are located on Hitchin Road. The library and local church are immediately outside the school, as are the many local businesses located in the High Street. Stopsley High School is a short walk away and many other facilities such as London-Luton airport and the University of Bedfordshire and available locally.
More widely, Luton is ideally located with London, Milton Keynes, Whipsnade and Woburn just short journeys away.
In 2009 we held centenary celebrations in school, celebrating 100 years at the heart of the local community. Every year we are involved in the local Rememberance Day celebrations.
The Local Area and Local Links
We have very strong links with Stopsley High School and most of our Year 6 pupils go there when they leave. Staff from all of the Luton High School's are closely involved in our Year 6 transition programme but Stopsley High School staff are particularly closely involved in our staff development and our pupils have regular access to their facilities. Recently pupils have used them for trampolining clubs, sports festivals and for inter- and intra- school competitions. Staff and pupils from Stopsley High School have also worked with our pupils and 'Playground Leaders' in school.
We also enjoy an excellent relationship with the local library, church and recycle team. We also stage and attend sporting fixtures and tournaments at local schools and staff network effectively across the local learning community, sharing effective practice.
At Stopsley Community Primary School we are lucky to have lots of visitors who come into enrich the curriculum we offer. Some of our visitors work with our classes, some take our assemblies, some lead our clubs whilst others help us make the most of our school grounds. Recently visitors have included representatives from the local community, the Fire Service, the Police Community Support Team, The Primary Colours Team (Black History Month) and a Bedfordshire Bat group (leading Design and Technology bat-box building sessions) amongst others.
