Writing

At Stopsley, we use a set teaching sequence of writing to teach writing. Quality, language-rich books are carefully selected to hook the children, inspire writing and demonstrate key skills. Our children write for a variety of purposes and audiences and participate in a wide range of writing activities. As part of our writing process, there is an emphasis on drafting and editing. The children use a range of tools to aid this process and to encourage independence in their learning; these tools ensure that children can transfer their English skills to all lessons across the curriculum.

Grammar lessons are taught explicitly to provide children with the understanding and confidence to build and manipulate varied sentences - whilst helping them to write with increased accuracy.

Here at Stopsley, we have high expectations and believe that every single child is a writer.
