RE at Stopsley is taught from the 'Agreed Syllabus' (Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton). The syllabus focuses on children discovering a range of accounts of the meanings humans find in life, developing their own sense of meaning, and they consider how human values are often common and humane, but also often distinctive in the ways they are expressed and practised.

RE plays an important role in promoting the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our children. Selected topics are chosen to reflect the wide community of children who attend the school as well as to prepare them for life in modern Britain. The understanding and awareness of the beliefs and viewpoints of others will work towards building an understanding and develop stronger community cohesion.

The principal aim of RE is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised.

Children at Stopsley are enthused with their learning in RE and their successes are seen through pupil voices, book looks and learning walks. In regular pupil voices, children are able to discuss their understanding of RE and how it is linked other areas of the curriculum through the range of activities that are planned within the lessons. Assemblies look at different events and celebrations throughout the year with visitors from nearby places of worships and charities also contributing to children’s experiences.
