We used our learning from Science to help us to think about conductors and insulators  which helped us to decide what resources to use. Our teachers gave us two ideas to try and make and then we challenged ourselves to make some different switches. We cannot wait to test them in our circuits in Science later in the week.

During the day, we participated in 6 different workshops that taught us all about different inventors and inventions. Luckily, we had recently learnt about steam engines so we were able to help out our guides with some extra information! We got to see some amazing things and some planes were even flying around outside! In the afternoon, we had a little bus trip on a 100-year-old bus and sang some Christmas carols together!

We mainly focused on recycling, reusing and reducing and thought carefully about how we could make a difference as individuals. We linked this to our local area so that we could teach other people in our community about how and where they can follow these 3 Rs. We also learnt about sustainable cities and created a comic and some art to encourage everyone to walk when they can!

First of all, we learnt about different sources of electricity including renewable and non-renewable sources and explored how power stations work. After that, we learnt about different types of electricity and thought about the different every day appliances that use electricity in our homes and school and how we can stay safe. We investigated circuits and explored complete and incomplete circuits using lots of different equipment. We were given the problem of having a complete circuit all of the time and investigated how we could solve this using different switches. Finally, we designed a festive light up decoration and made choices about what type of switch would be most suitable!

We shared a story to learn about her and her fascination with Science and Mathematics. Most impressively, she created the first langauge for computers and didn't even know it. 

After that, we investigated a range of puzzles and problems where we had to use our reasoning skills and some trial and improvement to be successful. It was really fun!
