Pancake day fun!

In the first week back after half-term the children in Reception learnt about the Christian celebration of Shrove Tuesday. We learnt about the origins of pancake day and why pancakes were made prior to the period of Lent.

As part of their Maths and Science learning the children had the opportunity to make pancakes themselves, following a recipe, counting out the correct quantity of each ingredient, mixing it together and then watching it change state once heated. Of course eating the pancakes afterwards was a very important (and yummy) part of the experience!

As part of their Literacy learning children wrote out and sequenced instructions on how to make pancakes, putting their ever growing Phonic skills to good use.
