Art

At Stopsley, we believe every child has the right to be inspired by the arts.

Our Art and Design curriculum ensures children learn to think critically about others' and their own work. We use topics and relevant themes to inspire their imagination and ignite ideas.

From Nursery our children are taught to express themselves creatively using various materials in fun and exciting ways. As they move to Key Stage One, children record their development and practise skills, such as drawing and colour mixing, in sketchbooks. Sketchbooks pass up through the school with them, tracking progress. Continuing in Key Stage Two children increase their awareness of different types of art and artists and expand on their skills, for example using lino to print, taking photographs to understand light and using a wider range of pencil types for drawing.

Various extra-curricular art clubs, workshops, artist visits and trips are available throughout the years to give children extra opportunity to develop artistic skills and knowledge outside the classroom.
