Governing Body
The Governors of Stopsley Community Primary School are very proud to take an active part in school life. Our aim is to ensure that the children at our school are valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our learning community is built upon the shared belief that the development of each child must be at the heart of everything we do.
The Governing Body works with the senior leaders in the strategic development of the school. They support the Headteacher and staff as well as offering constructive challenge ensuring that the school achieves the very best it can for all pupils.
The four core functions of the Governors are:
-
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
-
Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and the performance management of staff
-
Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
-
Ensuring the voices of stakeholders are heard
The Governing Body's focus is very much the future of the school for the benefit of the pupils.
Many Governors have had children attend the school or still have children attending. Therefore, we can understand parental viewpoints. We are very approachable and more than happy to hear from you about any matters you may wish to discuss.

We welcome feedback from parents so there is the option to give this via our school website by clicking here. It is always lovely to hear compliments about the school and what we do well. These can be given via our feedback page or via emailing the Headteacher directly through the school office. We also know that sometimes families do wish to complain about what we do or the way we do things. We always try our hardest to listen to these complaints and to resolve them by working together with families**. The school has a set procedure for parents who wish to raise a complaint and outlines how these are dealt with*.
*Please be aware that it is not the Governing Board's role to hear or deal with compliments or complaints from families. The school's policy must be followed, which ensures that any compliments or complaints are discussed with the school's Senior Leadership Team in the first instance. A copy of our policy is here.
**Ofsted do have an avenue for complaints about schools but these are passed on to the LA who liaise with the school to investigate them.
The Governing Board are excited to work with you.
Kind regards,
Co-Chairs of Governors
