The children in Year 1 worked in small groups to act out the beginning and middle of our story Knights and Dragons Unite! The children pretended to be either dragons or knights.
On Monday, the children came to school dressed in bright colours to raise awareness for Children's Mental Health Week. In class the children have been exploring different feelings and when they have felt this way. We have talked about who can help us when we are feeling sad or angry.
On Monday, the children performed their dance that they have been working very hard at learning during our PE lessons. It has been recorded and is on our facebook page for you to watch. The children have really enjoyed it.
Last week, the children in Year 1 met author, Laura-Joy Newman. They listened to her read her story 'The Worry-o-saur' and asked her some questions. Some children bought a signed copy of her book.
Last week, to celebrate Chinese New Year the children in Year 1 completed a range of activities. They practised writing in Chinese and made Chinese lanterns.
For the start of our learning on traditional tales, the children enjoyed reading different tales with their learning partner. They helped each other identify features of the tales.
The children in Year 1 have planted their own seeds as part of our learning in our topic The Enchanted Garden. We will spend the next few weeks watering them and watching them grow.
The children have settled back well after the holidays. They have enjoyed playing in our florist role play area, where they have been placing orders and making bouquets using pipe cleaners, tissue paper and ribbon.
The children in year 1 had a visit from a very important man... Santa. Santa and his helpers delivered some presents for the children. They were all very excited to see him.
To end our learning on Amazing Animals, the children in Year 1 came to school dressed as an animal. They created zoo signs for their animal and they worked together to become a zoo.
As part of our PE lessons, the children have been learning a dance with Katie. Today (Monday 13th December) the children performed their dance dressed as a variety of animals.
