Down At The Station

During the last two weeks we have started sound time each day with the traditional nursery song Down At The Station.

You can find a lovely, animated version to watch together on YouTube.

We have been using the song to talk about the different sounds a steam train makes as we have been exploring how we can change sounds from quiet to loud.

Today, we transformed three big boxes into trains, writing the engine number and noise it makes on the side.  The children enjoyed riding in their trains and making the sounds. Mrs Wiles even helped them to make up a new noise for a fourth engine, 'woo'woo'.

Ask your child about a lion and a mouse. Which one makes a loud (big) noise and which one makes a quiet (small sound)?

What noises will you hear when you are out and about next week? Please tell us about it through the Tapestry app.
