Exploding paint experiment!

Wow Wednesday fun! This week we have been learning about reactions which can happen when two different substances are placed together. We know that hot water added to a tea bag makes tea and we know that cold water added to squash makes juice. What we didn't know is what would happen when we put vinegar and paint mixture in a zip-lock bag and then added bicabonate of soda. Once we dropped in the bicarbonate of soda and closed the bag, the children could see a reaction beginning -  the paint mixture was fizzy! As we were talking about what we could see the children began to notice something else - the bag was getting bigger! It was filling up like a balloon! I wonder if you can guess what happened in the end? Our future scientists in Squirrels and Badger class did a great job of making predictions.
