Pastoral Support
We are a school where every child matters and no child is invisible.
At Stopsley, every step of a child's journey is supported, celebrated and understood.
Our commitment to the wellbeing of our children goes far beyond academic achievement. We recognise that in order to learn, children first need to feel safe, valued and emotionally supported. This is why we offer an extensive and thoughtfully tailored programme of pastoral support, ensuring that our pupils are guided through both the joyful and the more challenging moments of their school lives.
At the heart of our pastoral provision is Mrs Allen, who is our experienced and compassionate 'Pastoral Teaching Assistant'. With over twenty years of dedicated service at Stopsley, Mrs Allen brings a wealth of knowledge, understanding and empathy to her role. She is highly skilled in a wide range of nurturing, therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches that enable her to support each child with care and sensitivity.
Our dedicated pastoral hub (called 'Peake room') is a warm and welcoming space where children feel safe to explore their emotions, build confidence and develop key life skills. Whether a child is facing personal challenges, finding friendships difficult or simply needs a little extra emotional support, our pastoral provision is tailored to meet their individual needs.
The support we offer includes a variety of interventions and group work, such as:
- Lego therapy
- 'Drawing and Talking' therapy
- 'Attachment play'
- Self-esteem workshops
- 'Team Building' sessions
- 'Understanding our emotions'
- Emotional Literacy
- Friendships group work
- Understanding bereavement
- Anxiety sessions
- 'Social Skills' development
and so much more.
We believe pastoral care is not just about supporting children through difficult times – it’s about championing them every step of the way. We provide nurture and encouragement for children. We uplift them.
If you feel that your child may benefit from some additional pastoral support, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher. Parents are also welcome to contact our Pastoral Teaching Assistant directly at:

Sometimes we all need some support or guidance. If you ever need to talk to our family team or SEND team, please do get in touch.
