Science

At Stopsley, we encourage the children to build enthusiasm, curiosity and enjoyment for science through exploring and observing the world around them.

Teachers use the National Curriculum (NC) alongside 'Herts for Learning' progression documents to create inventive and creative practical investigations (inside and outside the classroom), with the use of secondary sources such as book, photographs and videos to answer scientific enquiries.

Using the working scientifically document (NC), the children will have the opportunity to observe, notice patterns, group and classify, compare, record data, use graphs and tables, using scientific vocabulary, make predictions, ensure fair testing and build a full rounded understanding of how science works. This will result in children having a natural wonder about the world around them, sparking questions and arriving at conclusions about all they observe in their everyday life.
